My teaching philosophy

In my music studio, my mission is to teach students how to love and appreciate music so that they can enjoy it as part of their lives. I help each student to explore music as fun, entertaining and learn things properly so that they can become the best musicians they can be.

I cover reading notes, counting rhythm, techniques, sight-reading, expressing dynamic and how to make the sound musically on the piano. Not only that, but I also teach students how to practice efficiently and furthermore how to perform well.

I love seeing my students’ improvement in their skills and progress on becoming a fine pianist. I value each student’s time and effort for the music, and I am always grateful for helping and providing them with all they need to get better.

Programs

Piano Recital We have piano recitals once or twice a year to have a chance to share students’ talents with families and friends and to encourage on students’ music studies.

Competitions Based on students’ will and teacher’s advice, students may enter piano competitions such as SYMF, MTNA or Bach Festival (or More!) to win the prize and furthermore to improve on students’ performance skills.

Certificate of Merit This is a systematic and comprehensive piano level test by Music Teacher’s Association of California which is to develop performance skill, technique, ear training, sight reading/singing and understanding of music theory. It benefits students to have practical goals to maintain a steady and focused approach to their musical studies.

Studio classThis is more like a performance practice class. Students get together at our studio to play the music in front of the group to check their performance level. Sometimes we evaluate and give some helpful comments each other. This class helps a lot to prepare for the programs listed above.
